WHEREAS, the Currituck Bulls & BBQ is an annual event held in Powells Point, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is a non-profit organization open to all, and is dedicated to furthering the art of hardwood smoking through public education; and

WHEREAS, the Currituck Bulls & BBQ is a sanctioned event of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, and as such draws contestants from all over North Carolina, as well as from several other states, each year to participate in the event; and

WHEREAS, the Grand Champion of the Currituck Bulls & BBQ will receive an invitation to the Jack Daniel's World Championship cook-off;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 4, 2023, as “CURRITUCK BULLS AND BBQ” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
