Governor Roy Cooper and First Lady Kristin Cooper will light the Executive Mansion orange on April 5 to highlight Work Zone Awareness Week and “Go Orange Day” to encourage safe driving in roadway work zones.

Work Zone Awareness Week is a nationally recognized week dedicated to reminding motorists to obey the posted speed limit, watch for workers, and drive safely through work zones.

“Road construction season is underway, and crews are out working on the roads, often just a few feet away from traffic,” Governor Cooper said. “Kristin and I will light the Executive Mansion orange tonight as a reminder that we all need to slow down and eliminate distractions while driving through work zones.”

Governor Cooper has proclaimed April as Work Zone Awareness Month and April 3-7 as Work Zone Awareness Week in North Carolina.
