Charlotte, NC -  Governor Pat McCrory was in Charlotte today to celebrate the opening of MetLife's new U.S. retail headquarters alongside senior officials from the company. Located in Ballantyne, the new facility will house the majority of the company's U.S. retail employees.

“MetLife is an excellent partner and we are thankful they have chosen Charlotte for their new U.S. retail headquarters,” said Governor Pat McCrory. “North Carolina’s workforce, quality of life and first-rate education opportunities make it possible for top companies like MetLife to grow and prosper in one of the most dynamic regions in the United States.”

In March 2013, the governor announced MetLife’s intent to invest $125.5 million and create 2,600 jobs in Mecklenburg and Wake counties. Wake County will see a new facility in Cary where the company will locate its global technology & operations organization. The company broke ground on the Cary facility in November 2013.

The U.S. retail facilities in Charlotte will feature nearly 90 conference rooms, open-seating floors and a full-service cafeteria. The company hopes to target LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors.

"MetLife is a world-class company that has made an important investment in the state," N.C. Department of Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker said. "We greatly appreciate its confidence in North Carolina and believe it is a testament to North Carolina's appealing and ever-improving business climate."
