Governor Cooper Declares Career Pathways Week in North Carolina Week Aims to Connect More Students, Workers with Training Needed for Growing Careers

RALEIGH

To strengthen North Carolina’s workforce and connect students and workers with successful careers, Governor Roy Cooper has declared the week of January 22-26, 2018 Career Pathways Week in North Carolina. NCWorks has developed 27 Certified Career Pathways to help North Carolinians get the education and training needed to work in high-demand, high-wage careers. Throughout the week, regional NCWorks Career Pathways teams will host workshops across the state aimed at raising awareness among K-12 and community college career counselors and teachers.

“Career pathways offer a roadmap to career success for North Carolina workers,” Gov. Cooper said. “Matching worker education and training with employer needs is common sense and will help families and industries across North Carolina.”

Career Pathways are designed to match worker preparation with the skills employers seek. NCWorks Certified Career Pathways are integrated, seamless systems of education and workforce development programs developed by employers, workforce development boards, high schools and colleges. More information is available at nccertifiedcareerpathways.com.
