North Carolina Receives Extension for FEMA Individual Assistance Sign Up

North Carolina homeowners and renters who sustained property damage or loss caused by Hurricane Florence will now have an extra 30 days, or until December 13, 2018, to register for Individual Assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). The extension comes after the state requested additional time.

Updated Estimates Show Florence Caused $17 Billion in Damage

The North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management has released an updated damage estimate from Hurricane Florence showing that the storm caused nearly $17 billion in damage, up from a previous estimate of $13 billion. The updated figure is based on new data from the North Carolina Department of Insurance and damage estimates may continue to change.

Additional FEMA Assistance Available For Three More Counties

North Carolina’s Federal Disaster declaration has been amended to include FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) for three additional counties: Chatham, Durham and Guilford. Individuals and businesses are able to apply for disaster assistance for uninsured and underinsured damage and losses resulting from Hurricane Florence.
