Criteria For State of North Carolina Awards
Order of the Long Leaf Pine
This award is the State of North Carolina highest honor of recognition. It is granted for employees with 30 or more years of employment with the State of North Carolina. The award is also granted for exemplary community services that demonstrates a significant impact in improving a local community. As a result, the service of a nominee has strengthened North Carolina. Supporting documents are required to detail the years of employment or service rendered.
Old North State
This award is granted for public service employment for 20 or more years to the State of North Carolina. The recognition is also granted to persons that have devoted significant volunteer or community service. Nominations for this award should include supporting documentation that describes volunteer, public or community service.
Certificate of Appreciation
This award is granted to residents for outstanding public service. The award may also be granted to recognize the efforts of an individual, organization or business. Supporting documents are required to detail why a nominee is deserving of recognition.
Volunteer Certificate of Appreciation
This award is granted to residents for exemplary volunteer service in their community. Nominations for this award should include a statement detailing the nominee’s service.
This award is granted to residents for outstanding athletics or contribution in sports. Nominations for this award can be for a team or individual and should include documentation why the nominee is deserving of the award.
This certificate is granted to North Carolina students in grades K-12, who exhibit outstanding service. Nominations should include a statement that details the nominees’ service.
This award is granted to a non-North Carolinian for exemplary service to the State of North Carolina. Nominations should include a statement detailing the service rendered in North Carolina.
Letter of Commendation
This recognition commends a resident for outstanding effort or service to the community. Nominations should include a statement on the individual and why they are being commended.
