WHEREAS, computer science education enables people to develop and apply critical thinking skills, imagination and creativity, interpersonal skills, leadership, management, and problem-solving skills; and
WHEREAS, computer science education contributes to increased attendance and graduation rates, it also prepares students for college, career, and citizen readiness; and
WHEREAS, computer science education supports student understanding of the modern business world of communications, global competition, information management, operations, supply and demand, talent acquisition and development, and technological innovations; and
WHEREAS, computer science is integrated in all parts of the economy and contributes to the vibrancy and vitality of communities across North Carolina and our nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim December 6-12, 2021, as “COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
