Governor Proclaims Family Engagement Month 2023

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina values education and the academic success of our youth, and recognizes the critical alliance between parents and schools in supporting the needs of our children; and

WHEREAS, Family Engagement Month highlights the important role of families in the education and success of their children throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, families are children’s first, longest lasting, and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers; positive parenting and strong family engagement can be central to promoting children’s healthy development and wellness; and

WHEREAS, a strong partnership between schools, families, and communities can aid in developing a generation of successful, productive, and conscientious residents; and

WHEREAS, it is important for schools, early learning settings, and the community to welcome families, plan for family engagement, and to assist families in engaging their child’s learning in ways that are effective; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina supports organizations that are committed to assisting families with engaging their children’s education and developing stronger connections with schools and their community; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina encourages its residents to foster a love of learning in youth and continue to advocate for effective family engagement as an integral part of the school community;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November, 2023, as “FAMILY ENGAGEMENT MONTH” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
