WHEREAS, the state's Guatemalan community enriches the cultural, economic, and civic opportunities available to residents and visitors to the State of North Carolina; and,
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is enhanced by the continuous infusion of culture, art, tradition and skills that our residents of Guatemalan ancestry contribute to the North Carolina community; and,
WHEREAS, today we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Guatemala;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 15, 2021, as “GUATEMALAN 200th INDEPENDENCE DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
