WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina has many rural communities that represent the rich and diverse background of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, rural communities are fueled by the creative energy of their citizens always willing to step forward, share and implement a vision, and drive change that benefits everyone; and
WHEREAS, meeting the healthcare needs of those citizens is constantly evolving, as rural communities face unique challenges and propose unique solutions; and
WHEREAS, rural healthcare providers create tremendous opportunities to deliver more comprehensive, compassionate, patient-centered and holistic care to rural communities, in collaboration with rural hospitals; and
WHEREAS, the rural health care system is an economic foundation of their communities; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina joins the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the North Carolina Office of Rural Health, along with other interested agencies and organizations, in recognizing the unique healthcare needs and opportunities that exist in rural communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2021, as “NATIONAL RURAL HEALTH DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
