A Proclamation
Whereas, North Carolina’s farmers and ranchers are global leaders in productivity who provide food and fiber for the world, drive our state’s economy; and
Whereas, with total exports of $3.3 billion, North Carolina’s agricultural industry supports more than 20,000 jobs in the food and agriculture, and related supply chain sectors; and
Whereas, North Carolina’s thriving agriculture sector provides jobs across our state, not only for farmers and ranchers, but also for scientists, processors, shippers, trucking, and retailers; and
Whereas, North Carolina stands as a leader in agricultural production and exports in the United States, providing a vast array of products for both domestical and international consumption; and
Whereas, North Carolina’s leading agriculture exports include but are not limited to sweetpotatoes, tobacco, pork, poultry, lumber, cotton, and soybeans; and
Whereas, it is vital to support expanded opportunities for the continued growth and success of North Carolina’s agricultural sector; and
Whereas, it is imperative to raise awareness among consumers, businesses, and policymakers about the opportunities and challenges facing agricultural trade;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim March 19, 2025, as “North Carolina Agriculture Trade Day” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
