North Carolina Civic Learning Week
2025
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, our nation’s longstanding and ongoing experiment in self-governance requires a populace with an understanding of our government and laws, the skills for discussion and working together across difference, and a widespread commitment to the civic strength of our communities; and
Whereas, civic literacy is vital to sustaining and strengthening constitutional democracy in the United States of America; and
Whereas, the practice of democracy must be taught and learned anew by each generation; and
Whereas, North Carolina serves to prepare young people for college, career, and civic life; and
Whereas, Civic Learning Week seeks to unite our communities and highlight the importance of civic literacy, knowledge, skills, and dispositions that provide the foundation for an informed and engaged populace; and
Whereas, North Carolina will continue to commit to the importance of civic learning by providing elementary and secondary school students with positive and engaging civic learning opportunities and engaging the public to promote awareness;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim March 10-14, 2025, as “North Carolina Civic Learning Week” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-sixth day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
