WHEREAS, on February 8, 1872, the North Carolina General Assembly enacted a law establishing Pamlico County as a new county of North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Pamlico County celebrates 150 years as a county in 2022; and

WHEREAS, the County of Pamlico, Pamlico County Historical Association, and the Pamlico Chamber of Commerce recognizes the history of the county and look forward to the next 50 years; and

WHEREAS, on April 23, 2022, the Pamlico County Courthouse will open a time capsule that was buried on the courthouse property in 1972; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is proud to recognize and celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of Pamlico County and all of their success;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 23, 2022, as “PAMLICO COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
