WHEREAS, October 15, 2021 has been designated in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day in North Carolina to bring awareness to the thousands of families affected by pregnancy and infant loss in North Carolina every year; and
WHEREAS, Pregnancy and Infant Loss includes infant death, miscarriage, stillbirth, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and death of a newborn; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina wishes to acknowledge the profound, lifelong grief and loss these families experience; and
WHEREAS, today we honor and remember the lives of children gone too soon and the devastating impact their loss leaves on their families and loved ones whose lives are forever altered; and
WHEREAS, raising public awareness will encourage additional community support for those individuals that have suffered such an unexpected tragedy and promote necessary efforts to prevent further pregnancy and infant loss;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 15, 2021, as “PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS REMEMBERENCE DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
