Governor Proclaims In Recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the American Society of Civil Engineers North Carolina Section 2023

WHEREAS, civil engineers serve an important role in protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public through engineering, design, construction administration, and maintenance of infrastructure; and

WHEREAS, North Carolina has a long history of civil engineering, from structures such as the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse to the Blue Ridge Parkway; and

WHEREAS, civil engineers continue to make improvements to North Carolina's infrastructure, keeping our great state safe and innovative; and

WHEREAS, The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) North Carolina Section is celebrating 100 years of rich history and service; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina commends the ASCE North Carolina Section and its over 2,500 members for their work in growing the profession of civil engineering;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 6, 2023, as a day “IN RECOGNITION OF THE 100^th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS NORTH CAROLINA SECTION” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
