WHEREAS, vascular anomalies are under-recognized disorders affecting children and adults and are often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, delaying adequate and specific treatment necessary to support positive physical, intellectual, and emotional development; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina recognizes the medical professionals across multiple specialties who support the multi-disciplinary care of children and adults in North Carolina who are living with vascular anomalies through direct care and engagement with new research; and
WHEREAS, we hope to support vascular anomalies care in North Carolina through a foundation of volunteer staff to improve quality of life by promoting medical advancements and community support; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 observance of Vascular Anomalies Awareness Day provides a unique opportunity for North Carolinians to learn about these disorders;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 22, 2023, as “VASCULAR ANOMALIES AWARENESS DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
