Governor Roy Cooper has appointed a new judge to preside over Wake County District Court.

“I’m pleased to appoint Sam Hamadani to the bench,” Gov. Cooper said. “Sam’s experience and leadership as a public defender are great assets to our court system.”

Sam Hamadani will serve as a District Court Judge for Judicial District 10 in Wake County. Since graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Law, she has served as an assistant public defender, working on over 200 pretrial hearings and trials. She also brings to her new appointment experience as a Guardian ad Litem advocating for children in the court system. Hamadani has also served her community as the president of the Domestic Violence Action Project.

Hamadani’s seat on the district court bench was previously held by Vince Rozier, who now serves as a Superior Court Judge in Wake County.
