Halifax County will see 129 new jobs and $14 million in private investment from two economic development projects with manufacturing companies, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. Reser’s Fine Foods will create 79 new jobs with an expansion in Halifax, and JBB Packaging will create 50 new jobs with a new facility in Weldon.

“Manufacturing companies choose North Carolina because our workforce has the experience needed to get the job done,” said Governor Cooper. “Communities like Halifax County have so much to offer—unique quality of life, easy access to major highways and a growing historic downtown. Through Hometown Strong, we’re getting rural North Carolina the resources it needs to sell these assets to more companies and help current industry thrive.”

Hometown Strong is an initiative launched by Governor Cooper to partner with local governments to support local economies, improve infrastructure, and strengthen rural communities.

JBB Packaging, LLC, a plastic packaging manufacturer, will open a new plastic film manufacturing facility in Halifax County, creating 50 jobs. The company plans to invest $11 million in Weldon with the project.

Reser’s Fine Foods will expand its current operations in Halifax County, creating 79 jobs over the next 5 years. The company plans to invest $3.2 million in Halifax with the project.

Details on these job announcements are available at nccommerce.com/news/press-releases.

These two projects will be facilitated, in part, by One North Carolina grants. The One N.C. Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require a matching grant from local governments and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.
