Three rural North Carolina counties will see a total of 71 new jobs and $23.2 million in private investment from economic development projects with manufacturing companies in Caldwell, Clay and Wilson counties, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.
“The manufacturing jobs of today are high-quality, good-paying opportunities that will help our rural communities prosper,” Governor Cooper said. “North Carolina’s skilled workforce, favorable business climate and robust training opportunities make us a favorite for companies looking to grow, and these announcements show that the manufacturing industry agrees.”
In Caldwell County, Sealed Air Corporation, a manufacturer of packaging products including bubble wrap, will create 25 jobs and invest $10.4 million over three years as it expands its manufacturing facility in Lenoir. Sealed Air manufactures innovative packaging solutions and is headquartered in Charlotte with manufacturing sites in Lenoir, Hudson and High Point, N.C. In Clay County, Advanced Digital Cable, Inc. (ADC), a manufacturer of electronic, industrial and other cables, will create 15 jobs with an expansion of its existing manufacturing facility in Clay County. The company will invest $6 million with this project. ADC was founded in 1997 in Hayesville, N.C. and is now a key manufacturer of coaxial, electronic, industrial and traffic signal cables. In Wilson County, automotive manufacturer Linamar Forgings Carolina (LFC) will create 31 jobs by expanding its existing manufacturing facility in Wilson. The company will invest more than $6.8 million with this project. LFC is part of the Linamar Seissenschmidt Forgings Group, headquartered in Plettenburg, Germany and owned by Linamar Corporation. LFC manufactures wheel and powertrain products for the automotive industry. With this project, LFC will expand its production to add two automotive products. For more details, see N.C. Performance-based grants from the One North Carolina Fund (OneNC) will help support these projects. OneNC provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All OneNC grants require a matching grant from local government and is contingent upon that condition being met.
