Governor Cooper Announces Guilford County District Court Judge Appointment

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced the appointment of Marc Tyrey as a District Court Judge in Guilford County. He will fill the vacancy created by the passing of Chief District Court Judge Tom Jarrell.

“Marc has been an integral part of the Guilford County legal community for more than 20 years, and I appreciate his commitment to continue serving,” Gov. Cooper said.

Marc Tyrey will serve as a District Court Judge in Judicial District 18, which serves Guilford County.Tyrey has practiced law in Guilford County since 1998. Since 2010, he has managed the firm of Tyrey Law. He began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office. He has also been an adjunct professor at Guilford College.

Tyrey is an active member of the High Point and Greensboro Bar Associations and serves his community as a youth sports coach and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He received his Juris Doctor from Campbell University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Guilford College.
