Governor Cooper Announces New Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

<p>Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced three new appointments to state boards and commissions.</p>

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced three new appointments to state boards and commissions.

“I’m grateful that these dedicated North Carolinians will share their experience and expertise with our state through public service,” Gov. Cooper said.

Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individuals to the North Carolina State Ports Authority Board of Directors:

  • Robert A. Wicker of Greensboro as Chair. Wicker served as the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for General Parts International, Inc. until 2014. He previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Burlington Industries, Inc. 
  • Robert O. Hill, Jr. of Kinston as Vice Chair. Hill is the retired President and CEO of Hillco, Ltd. Hill has also served on the East Carolina University Board of Trustees and has served the American Health Care Association and the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association in various roles. 

Gov. Cooper appointed the following individual to the Task Force for Safer Schools:

  • Alan Duncan of Greensboro as a member of the State Board of Education. Duncan is an attorney and serves as Chair of the Guilford County School Board. Duncan also serves on the Governor’s Commission on Access to Sound Basic Education.
