Today, Governor Cooper publicly called on Speaker Moore and legislative Republicans to return to the negotiating table and work to repeal House Bill 2. In a Medium post, Governor Cooper laid out the serious concerns with a referendum provision, proposed an alternative option and urged Speaker Moore to return to the negotiating table. To this point, Speaker Moore has been unwilling to negotiate on anything without a provision for referendums, which would likely continue to keep HB2 and North Carolina in the news for the wrong reasons.

Since House Bill 2 was passed last year, North Carolina’s economy has lost thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars. If the law is not repealed, the NCAA have said that North Carolina will not be eligible to host tournaments for the next six years.
