Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that the State is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of James and Janice Harris and James and Peqqy Jo Whitley.

On Monday, August 21, 2017, Deputies responded to 980 Fishing Creek Road in Enfield, which is in the Glenview Community near NC Highway 48 and the Nash County Line. Upon arrival, Deputies found four victims: homeowners Janice Harris, age 72, and James Harris, age 88; and visitors James Whitley, age 76, and Peggy Jo Whitley, age 67. They had been shot multiple times in what appears to be a home invasion.

The victims had been shot through a glass door and killed while they sat playing cards at the dining room table. Robbery appears to be the motive.

Anyone having information concerning this case should contact the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at (252) 583-8201, Crime Stoppers at (252) 583-4444 or the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 777-8188.
