Today, Governor Cooper hosted military veterans and their families at the Executive Residence for a reception to commemorate the sacrifices military veterans have made for North Carolina and the country. During the reception, the governor signed a proclamation declaring November 11, 2018 Veterans Day in North Carolina.

“We owe a solemn debt to our veterans and military families. Their service and sacrifice make our nation safer and our communities stronger. I’m proud that so many veterans continue to call our state home when they leave active service and we must continue to offer our support while we work to ensure North Carolina remains the most military friendly state in the nation,” said Governor Cooper.

North Carolina is home to the third-largest military population in the country, including more than 750,000 veterans. This fall, Gov. Cooper has recognized the critical role members of our military, veterans, and their families play in improving our state through various events and proclamations, including declaring November Military Family Appreciation Month and November 5 - 9 Veterans Small Business Week.
