Governor Roy Cooper today issued a state disaster declaration to help the town of Windsor recover from damages caused by Tropical Storm Julia last September. The declaration makes state funds available to help cover the costs of removing debris, providing emergency protective services and repairing local roads and bridges.

Albemarle Corporation, a global specialty chemicals company, will add 200 jobs in North Carolina, Governor Cooper announced today. In Cleveland County, the company will add 170 new jobs and invest $10.5 million over five years with a project facilitated in part by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG). The company also plans to continue to grow its corporate headquarters in Charlotte by adding 30 jobs and plans to increase its investment in Cleveland County to a total of $20 million. 

Fibertex Personal Care, a Danish textile company, will add 145 jobs in Asheboro with its first U.S. manufacturing facility, Governor Cooper announced today. The company plans to invest $60 million by December 31, 2021 with a project facilitated in part by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG). 

Today, Governor Cooper participated in the launch of the Face to Face initiative, a national call to action sponsored by the Council of State Governments encouraging policymakers to personally engage with the people who are closest to the correctional system. Governors from across the country and both sides of the aisle are participating in today’s national effort.

Governor Roy Cooper today announced 32 additional appointments to North Carolina boards and commissions, including the North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission, the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities, and the North Carolina Historical Commission. 

Revlon, the global cosmetics and beauty care products company will expand operations at its existing facility near Oxford, creating 55 full-time jobs over three years, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $16.1 million to add production capacity for its Elizabeth Arden line of products.

Allstate Insurance Company will add 2,250 jobs over three years in North Carolina as it expands its operations in Mecklenburg County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. Allstate already employs more than 1,400 people in the area. As part of the expansion, the company plans to invest more than $22 million in the Charlotte area.

TrueLearn, LLC plans to create 44 new jobs and move its headquarters and operations to Iredell County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company works with many of the leading medical schools and residency programs in the country to help young physicians achieve board certification in various specialties of medicine. The company is expanding its services to new fields within health care and plans to invest $435,000 over five years in Mooresville.
