Governor Roy Cooper today noted that North Carolina’s infant deaths in 2018 reached their lowest rate in the 31 years they have been tracked, decreasing for a third straight year to 6.8 deaths per 1,000 live births down 4.2 percent from the previous year’s rate of 7.1 per 1000 live births.

Governor Cooper signed the following bills into law: 

Governor Cooper announced today that FEMA has approved his request to add 12 more counties to those eligible to receive reimbursements for Hurricane Dorian response and recovery expenses.

Today the U.S. Small Business Administration granted Governor Cooper’s request for a disaster declaration for counties that suffered damages from Hurricane Dorian, making additional assistance available to residents there.

The legislature has once again gone on vacation without doing anything for teachers who have started the school year without a state-funded pay raise.

Today, Governor Cooper signed two bills into law.
