On the six-month anniversary of Hurricane Helene, Governor Josh Stein and Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler sent a letter to US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, requesting that USDA approve a block grant to support the recovery efforts of farmers in Western North Carolina. 
Yesterday, Governor Stein submitted the state’s proposed Action Plan for a $1.4 billion federal disaster recovery grant to address unmet housing, infrastructure, and economic revitalization needs in western North Carolina.

Today, Governor Josh Stein announced the following judicial appointment:Matthew Cabe to the District Court for Judicial District 36, serving Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba Counties. Cabe is filling the vacancy created after Judge Sherri Elliott was appointed to the Superior Court.
(RALEIGH) Today, Governor Stein issued a State of Emergency to expand the state’s capacity to respond to the wildfires burning in western North Carolina. The Governor and Emergency Management Officials are urging North Carolinians to be aware of high fire danger conditions across the state. All residents should pay close attention to local emergency alerts and evacuation notifications.  
Today, Governor Josh Stein announced an executive order to create a Council on Workforce and Apprenticeships, chaired by Secretary of Commerce Lee Lilley, State Senator Eddie Settle, and NC Community Colleges President Dr. Jeffrey Cox. He also met with students at Forsyth Tech Community College and toured the Transportation Technology Center. 
Today, Governor Josh Stein joined business leaders and elected officials at the groundbreaking ceremony for Johnson & Johnson’s new facility in Wilson. Governor Stein highlighted the facility’s importance to North Carolina’s economy and presented Johnson & Johnson with an official state flag to fly over the facility.  
Today, Governor Josh Stein launched a new website to welcome talented and dedicated people to apply to work for the state of North Carolina. This website encourages people who were displaced due to Hurricane Helene or recent federal cuts to consider coming to work with the state of North Carolina. It also provides resources for servicemembers, their spouses, and veterans to apply for positions in North Carolina state government.
