Today, Governor Cooper returned to UNC-Charlotte after speaking to the Rally for Respect in Raleigh. He brought the message from North Carolina teachers that they stand with the UNC-Charlotte community and are supporting and praying for them.

In Charlotte Governor Cooper met with UNCC Chancellor Philip Dubois and his leadership team, Mayor Vi Lyles, Congressman Alma Adams and other local officials to debrief on the emergency procedures that were in place during yesterday's shooting and how they were effective in responding to the crisis.

Governor Cooper also mourned with students and faculty members at a vigil led by the student body president and other student leaders.

Governor Cooper has spoken to the Howell family and expressed his condolences on the loss of their son, and the Governor's office has contacted the other victims' families to speak when they are ready.
