Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that President Biden has agreed to North Carolina’s request to cover 90% of Public Assistance. The federal government typically covers 75% of the cost. The increased federal reimbursement share decreases the financial cost to the State of North Carolina for eligible programs and projects.The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is currently authorized at 75% federal cost share with the 25% remaining share being covered by the state.
Today, Governor Roy Cooper appointed the Honorable Sherri Elliott to serve as Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 19, serving Catawba County. Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that residential cabinet manufacturer, NexGen Cabinets Inc., will create 42 new jobs in Duplin County. The company will invest more than $6.7 million to establish an East Coast assembly and manufacturing facility in the Town of Wallace.
Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that Amgen Inc., the pioneering biotechnology company, will expand its biologics manufacturing operation in Holly Springs, creating 370 additional jobs. The company intends to invest $1 billion in Wake County.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Health and Human Services Secretary Kody H. Kinsley celebrated the one-year anniversary of Medicaid expansion in North Carolina by announcing that nearly 600,000 North Carolinians, many of whom live in rural counties, have enrolled. The Governor and Secretary spoke at ECU Health in Greenville and were joined by ECU Health CEO Dr. Mike Waldrum, Dr. Karen Coward and several beneficiaries who have been able to get care thanks to Medicaid expansion.
