Governor's Reward Program
The Governor may issue a proclamation offering a reward for information leading to someone’s arrest and conviction for a crime. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15-53.1
Reward Request Procedure for Law Enforcement
If local law enforcement would like to request that the Governor issue a reward proclamation, they should contact the Governor’s Reward Program for more information or follow the procedure below.
- Law enforcement requests for a reward should be made in writing, on official letterhead.
- The request should be signed by the Chief of Police or Sheriff of the requesting agency.
- When received, a file will be established, and the reward request will be reviewed.
- The Governor’s Office will notify the requesting agency when a decision is reached.
