Governor Proclaims BBQ Fest on the Neuse 2021

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina and the City of Kinston are pleased to host the 40^th Annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse; and

WHEREAS, this proud North Carolina tradition has historically drawn visitors to Historic Downtown Kinston to enjoy Eastern North Carolina BBQ, entertainment, arts, car show and more; and

WHEREAS, in addition to all festival activities, the BBQ Fest on the Neuse is the largest whole-hog competition in the state; and

WHEREAS, this year, in compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines, festival activities will be smaller and socially distanced; and

WHEREAS, while the festival will look a little different this year, the BBQ Festival on the Neuse remains an important part of our state and city’s tourism industry and we invite people to attend and take the opportunity to see what Kinston has to offer;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 7 – 8, 2021, as “BBQ FEST ON THE NEUSE” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
