WHEREAS, effective parents provide foundation, support, wisdom, and unconditional love, as well as help children build character, learn responsibility, and reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, parents are vital to strong families and to thriving communities; and
WHEREAS, effective parenting reaches beyond the home as part of a community effort to help shape future generations; and
WHEREAS, in 1994, the United States Congress established the fourth Sunday of July as National Parents’ Day to honor and recognize the vital role of parents rearing children and the importance of effective parenting; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina encourages parents to be their best for their own children, children in their care, and children throughout our communities to ensure that all have the support and encouragement they need;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim July 25, 2021, as “NATIONAL PARENTS’ DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
