WHEREAS, the primary concern and responsibility of health care professionals serving North Carolina is the health and well-being of our residents; and
WHEREAS, while radiation continues to be a useful and necessary part of our medical world, radiation exposure can be harmful to people; and
WHEREAS, qualified practitioners who specialize in the use of medical radiation and imaging technology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease share a commitment to bring North Carolinians a safer, more compassionate environment now and in the future; and
WHEREAS, dedicated radiologic science professionals consistently meet the highest standards of professionalism through education, lifelong learning, credentialing, and personal commitment; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina joins the North Carolina Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc., and other interested agencies and organizations to promote awareness of radiation safety and the opportunities to reduce radiation doses;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 8 – 14, 2020, as “NATIONAL RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
