BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the quality and efficiency of management in government have a major impact on the orderly functioning of services to society and the lives of the residents of our communities; and
WHEREAS, public manager certification contributes to maintaining and improving the effectiveness and professionalism of government managers; and
WHEREAS, the more than 2,500 mid-level managers across federal, tribal, state, and local governments who have completed the State of North Carolina’s Certified Public Managers Program participate in leadership, decision-making, organizational research, and management training while enhancing their knowledge of public policy; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina Certified Public Managers uphold public trust through high standards of ethical responsibility, performing their duties with honesty and fairness, and setting an example of professionalism; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina Certified Public Managers provide enlightened leadership, demonstrating vision and competence in the professional management of public policies and services while facilitating positive changes and enhancing the delivery of public services through improved communication and collaboration among public entities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October, 2024, as “CERTIFIED PUBLIC MANAGERS MONTH” and October 2, 2024 as “CERTIFIED PUBLIC MANAGERS DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
