A Proclamation
Whereas, Dreamville Festival is a weekend outdoor music celebration curated by internationally-acclaimed hip-hop artist Jermaine Lamarr Cole, known as J. Cole; and
Whereas, Dreamville Festival is a celebration of Black music and culture; first held in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2019; and
Whereas, J. Cole, the founder of Dreamville, is from Fayetteville, North Carolina; and
Whereas, J. Cole has won multiple awards, including a Grammy for Best Rap Song for "A Lot" featuring 21 Savage; and
Whereas, notable past performers to have graced the festival’s main stages include the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B, with a mix of established touring acts, rare on-stage reunions, and exciting up-and-comers; and
Whereas, since launching in 2018, Dreamville Festival has become one of the largest annual events in the state of North Carolina, as well as one of the most popular artist-led music festivals in the world, with guests regularly traveling from across the globe and all 50 U.S. states to attend this one-of-a-kind music experience; and
Whereas, Dreamville Festival has generated millions of dollars each year for the local and North Carolina economy, while providing a positive and substantial cultural impact on Raleigh and the surrounding areas that lasts long after the festival wraps up each spring; and
Whereas, on April 5-6, 2025, North Carolina will celebrate the fifth and final year of Dreamville Fest;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 5-6, 2025, as “Dreamville Fest Weekend” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
