Governor Proclaims Gold Star Spouses Day 2024

GOLD STAR SPOUSES DAY

2024

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, North Carolina proudly honors the sacrifices made by the spouses and families of the fallen members of the Armed Forces of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Gold Star Spouses are the spouses and families of the members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States who have died on active duty or as a result of a service-connected disability; and

WHEREAS, the members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States bear the burden of protecting the freedom of the people of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina and the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is committed to providing services, support, and friendship to the spouses of the fallen members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina encourages everyone to remember that the sacrifices of the families of the fallen members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States should never be forgotten;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 5, 2024, as “GOLD STAR SPOUSES DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
