WHEREAS, Government Communications Day was created on February 24, 2022, a day dedicated to recognizing the outstanding efforts of public communicators; and
WHEREAS, today is a chance to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the communication experts, public information officers, communication directors, social media managers, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, event planners, speech writers, and marketing specialists who inform, educate, and engage our communities; and
WHEREAS, effective communication in government fosters understanding, trust, and collaboration with the public; and
WHEREAS, Government Communications Day commends the communicators, public relations professionals, and others behind the scenes who bridge the gap between governance and the governed; their commitment to clarity, openness, and transparency strengthens the foundations of democracy; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina honors the individuals who have dedicated their careers to ensuring local, state, and federal government agencies have effective, impactful, and successful communication strategies that resonate and are relevant to the residents of our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim February 24, 2024, as “GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATIONS DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
