Healthcare Security and Safety Week

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers play an important role in North Carolina’s health profession; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers are tasked with protecting all those who work, visit, or receive treatment in a healthcare facility, and serve as the first responders to security, safety, and criminal incidents; and
WHEREAS, the professionalism of healthcare security and safety officers is customized and adaptable to the diverse and evolving healthcare security needs of the citizens of North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, the demand for healthcare security and safety services is rising because of increased violence against healthcare professionals, expanding criminal acts in the healthcare setting, and a growing population of older citizens utilizing healthcare facilities; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety is an important aspect of ensuring optimal quality of care for all patients and professionals, and these officers are an integral part of our healthcare system;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 13 – 19, 2024, as “HEALTHCARE SECURITY AND SAFETY WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
