HUNGER ACTION MONTH
2024
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, access to nutritious food is foundational to the health and well-being of all North Carolinians, and yet 10.9 percent of the population of North Carolina experiences food insecurity, including about one in six children facing hunger; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is committed to taking steps to combat hunger in every community across our state and providing the nutritious food that our residents need to thrive; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina recognizes the importance of Food Banks in our communities and is committed to educating people about the role and importance of Food Banks in addressing hunger and raising awareness of the need to devote more resources and attention to hunger issues; and
WHEREAS, North Carolinians can help end hunger by volunteering with Food Banks, learning more about hunger in our communities, and spreading awareness of hunger during Hunger Action Month;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September, 2024, as “HUNGER ACTION MONTH” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
