MASTOCYTOSIS AND MAST CELL DISEASES AWARENESS DAY

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, North Carolina is committed to promoting public health and raising awareness about significant health issues affecting our residents; and

WHEREAS, mast cell diseases, such as Mastocytosis, are rare and debilitating conditions that affect an estimated one in 10,000 to 20,000 people worldwide, including many North Carolinians; and

WHEREAS, despite their rarity, mast cell diseases deserve attention and support to improve the quality of life for those affected and their families; and

WHEREAS, research and advancements in medical science are critical to enhancing our understanding of mast cell diseases and developing effective treatments and therapies; and

WHEREAS, a collective effort is needed from healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and the public to provide support, funding, and resources toward raising awareness about mast cell diseases and their impact on individuals and society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 20, 2024, as “MASTOCYTOSIS AND MAST CELL DISEASES AWARENESS DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
