Minority Health Month

2025

By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina

A Proclamation

Whereas, the health and well-being of every North Carolinian is vital to the prosperity and strength of our state; and

Whereas, North Carolina is a growing and increasingly diverse state, nearly 40 percent of its residents identifying as members of racial and ethnic minority groups; and

Whereas, diversity in our state spans geography, race, religion, language, sexual identity, socioeconomic status, disability, and immigration status, and historically marginalized groups often experience preventable health differences due to barriers and limited opportunities in health care, education, social support, economic stability, and environmental conditions, underscoring the importance of focused efforts to achieve health equity; and

Whereas, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services works to promote and advocate for the elimination of disparities with a vision of ensuring every North Carolinian can achieve his or her highest level of health, regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, gender identity, socioeconomic status, or other differences; and

Whereas, fostering collaborative action is essential, as we collectively commit to building a system that promotes whole-person health and serves all residents; and we reaffirm our commitment to advancing initiatives, policies, and practices that address the root causes of health disparities, paving the way for a healthier future for everyone;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 2025, as “MINORITY HEALTH MONTH” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-fifth day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
