National Day of Prayer
2025
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, throughout our history, Americans of many faiths have turned to prayer for guidance, peace, and hope; and
Whereas, North Carolinians of different faith backgrounds pray to express their beliefs, seek help and strength, and give thanks for blessings; and
Whereas, a National Day of Prayer has been a part of the nation’s heritage since it was declared by the First Continental Congress in 1775; it was further established by a joint resolution in the United States Congress in 1952; and
Whereas, the theme for this year’s observance of the National Day of Prayer is Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled!; and
Whereas, on this National Day of Prayer, those who choose to do so may join together to pray for our nation and our neighbors praying for guidance, wisdom and mercy;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2025, as “National Day of Prayer” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this thirtieth day of April in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
