Governor Proclaims National Medical Coder Day 2024

NATIONAL MEDICAL CODER DAY

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, medical coders provide a much-needed service to doctors and other healthcare providers and are a vital segment of the healthcare industry; and

WHEREAS, increasingly, healthcare providers rely on medical coding companies to assist them in processing claims in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations; healthcare providers consult with medical coding companies for advice regarding reimbursement matters, as well as overall business decision-making; and

WHEREAS, medical coders strive to provide a high level of ethical, lawful, and professional conduct throughout the entire healthcare industry; and

WHEREAS, medical coders can offer expertise in carrier reimbursement requirements, helping ensure that medical claims are accurately prepared and freeing physicians and other practitioners so they can devote their energies to the care of their patients; and

WHEREAS, medical coders continue to influence the billing process in a positive and credible manner and should be recognized for their efforts and dedication to the medical coding profession;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 23, 2024, as “NATIONAL MEDICAL CODER DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
