WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is committed to excellence in education and recognizes the importance of family participation in the pursuit of such standards; and

WHEREAS, research suggests that a student’s ability to achieve academic success is tied to consistent levels of parent involvement in their local schools, which is why more than nine million family members participate in volunteer opportunities in schools throughout the United States each academic year; and

WHEREAS, kids across North Carolina benefit from the volunteer services of parents and community volunteers in local schools; and

WHEREAS, today, the state of North Carolina joins students, parents, educators, and dedicated community organizations and volunteers throughout our state in encouraging and celebrating parents’ involvement in their kids’ lives and education;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2021, as “NATIONAL PARENT INVOLVEMENT DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
