A Proclamation

Whereas, North Carolinians recognize the vital role that swimming and aquatic-related activities can play in physical and mental health; and

Whereas, education about the topic of Water Safety plays an essential role in preventing drownings and recreational water-related injuries; and

Whereas, the recreational water industry, as represented by the organizations involved in the National Water Safety Month Coalition, works to develop safe swimming facilities, aquatic programs, home pools and spas, and related activities, providing healthy places to recreate, learn, grow, and build self-esteem; and

Whereas, the residents of North Carolina understand the vital importance of communicating Water Safety rules and programs to families and individuals of all ages, whether owners of private pools, users of public swimming facilities, or visitors to waterparks;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 2025, as National Water Safety Monthin North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.

                                                                       

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this first day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
