WHEREAS, North Carolina’s broadcast industry has long been recognized nationally as a leader in providing service to the public, quality entertainment, and excellence in the coverage and reporting of news and information critical to helping people stay informed and knowledgeable; and

 

WHEREAS, the leaders of North Carolina’s broadcast industry have given their time, talent, and resources over many years to assure the industry’s ongoing commitment to public service and professional excellence; and

WHEREAS, these broadcast leaders have distinguished themselves by their exceptional service to the industry and to the people who live in North Carolina’s urban and rural communities; and

WHEREAS, the extent of their leadership and exceptional service has led to their recognition as legends within the broadcast industry; and

WHEREAS, these legends include Jim Goodmon, Don Curtis, Jim Heavner, Carl Venters, Bob Horner, Wade Hargrove, Charlie Gaddy, Cullie Tarleton, Bob Harper, Dr. James Carson, Jim Babb, Bill Rollins, George Beasley; and

WHEREAS, during NC Broadcast Legend Week, we seek to honor of all North Carolina broadcasters who have worked to better our lives through quality radio and television programs;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim the week of August 2, 2021, as “NC BROADCAST LEGEND WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
