Governor Proclaims North Carolina Enrollment Assister Appreciation Week 2024

NORTH CAROLINA ENROLLMENT ASSISTER APPRECIATION WEEK

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, North Carolina has experienced significant changes to the health coverage landscape in 2023 and 2024 with the processes known as Medicaid Expansion and Medicaid Unwinding; and

WHEREAS, North Carolina has experienced record enrollments through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, seeing approximately 1,028,000 enrollments during Open Enrollment 11 on Healthcare.gov; and

WHEREAS, North Carolina now has more than 600,000 newly eligible Medicaid beneficiaries under the expanded eligibility requirements; and

WHEREAS, Enrollment Assisters perform outreach and education efforts to increase North Carolinians’ awareness of their health coverage options; and

WHEREAS, Enrollment Assisters, including Navigators and Certified Application Counselors, provide free and unbiased assistance helping North Carolina residents access quality and affordable health coverage, and have been on the front lines helping eligible North Carolinians understand the changes in health coverage options and assisting residents with their applications for Medicaid and Marketplace Coverage;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 15 – 19, 2024, as “NORTH CAROLINA ENROLLMENT ASSISTER APPRECIATION WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
