A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) Summer Accelerator Week empowers youth in North Carolina by providing them with an immersive experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, fostering innovation, and nurturing future leaders in these critical fields; and
WHEREAS, NCSSM Summer Accelerator Week offers a unique opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds across North Carolina to engage in hands-on learning, collaborate with peers, and interact with esteemed educators and professionals in STEM disciplines, thereby enriching their academic journey and expanding their horizons; and
WHEREAS, the NCSSM Summer Accelerator Week cultivates a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship by equipping students with essential skills, knowledge, and resources to tackle real-world challenges, foster creativity, and develop solutions to pressing issues facing our local communities and beyond; and
WHEREAS, the impact of NCSSM Summer Accelerator Week extends beyond the classroom, inspiring students to become lifelong learners, advocates for scientific inquiry, and catalysts for positive change, thereby strengthening the fabric of our society and contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, NCSSM Summer Accelerator Week serves as a beacon of excellence in STEM education, showcasing North Carolina's commitment to fostering talent, promoting diversity and inclusion, and ensuring equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their background or circumstances; and
WHEREAS, Governor Cooper has declared 2024 as the “Year of Public Schools” in North Carolina, and the continued support and recognition of NCSSM Summer Accelerator Week reaffirms North Carolina's dedication to investing in the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders, who will shape the future of our state, our nation, and the world;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim June 3 – 7, 2024, as “NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS SUMMER ACCELERATOR WEEK” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
