IN RECOGNITION OF
THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF NC STATE CONTINUING AND LIFELONG EDUCATION
2024
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education at NC State University was officially founded on July 1, 1924, as the College Extension Division; and
WHEREAS, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education establishes extension and continuing education partnerships to serve the public in North Carolina and beyond; and
WHEREAS, since 1924, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education has aimed to meet the needs of individuals, organizations, and communities in North Carolina and beyond through its programs and services, which inspire and empower North Carolinians for a lifetime of success and impact; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, the Jane S. McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education was built as an on-campus facility for continuing education and extension courses; and
WHEREAS, from July 2022 through June 2023, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education served over 154,000 participants through the delivery of over 1,700 continuing and lifelong education programs; and
WHEREAS, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education provides academic youth camps, proctoring services, and educational outreach to Eastern North Carolina and offers customized and tailored training and education to meet the needs of corporate, government, and non-profit organizations throughout the Triangle; and
WHEREAS, each year, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education provides over 260 continuing and professional education programs and over 22 conferences, and offers courses, lectures, study trips, and events to more than 1,450 members aged 50 or older; and
WHEREAS, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education provides high-quality evaluation, research, and technical services to government agencies and nonprofits to improve performance and policy decisions; and
WHEREAS, NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education remains dedicated to offering the programs and services essential for the success of individuals, organizations, and communities to succeed over the next 100 years and beyond;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim August 27, 2024, as a day “IN RECOGNITION OF THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF NC STATE CONTINUING AND LIFELONG EDUCATION” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
