IN RECOGNITION OF
THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE
2024
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, today marks the 50th anniversary of the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Council was founded in 1973 to serve as a link between artists, arts, cultural organizations, and the community; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Arts Council is to connect communities, embrace diversity, promote individual creativity, advance economic development, and foster lifelong learning through the arts; and
WHEREAS, the Council is the primary steward of public and private funding for arts and cultural and historical activities in the Cape Fear Region; the Arts Council and the agencies it supports are known for the core values of excellence, accountability, transparency, collaboration, and innovation; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Council takes pride in its commitment to supporting the arts community by offering various grant programs, festivals, concerts, arts exhibitions, and educational opportunities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 16, 2024, as a day “IN RECOGNITION OF THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
